     As long as I have been in the trenches, I have not been able to reconcile my poetic creed with the utilitarianism dominant in every advanced society, regardless of their religious or political views.
     However, I find solace in my parallel, Robert Graves, who expresses what could very well be my own creed in the forward to his White Goddess; The function of Poetry is religious invocation of the Muse, its use is the experience of musical exaltation and horror that her presence excites. But nowadays' ? Function and use remain the same; Only the application has changed. This was once a warning to man that he must keep in harmony with the family living creatures among which he was born, by obedience to the lady of the house; it is now a reminder that he has disregarded the warning, turned the house upside down by capricious experiments in philosophy, science and industry, and brought ruin on himself and his family. 'Nowadays' is civilization in which the prime emblems of Poetry are dishonored. In which Serpent, Lion, and Eagle, belong to the circus tent; Ox, Salmon and Boar, belong to the cannery, Race Horse and Greyhound to the betting ring, and the Sacred Grove to the saw mill. In which the Moon is despised as a burned out satellite of Earth and woman reckoned as "auxiliary state personal.' In which money will buy you anything but the Truth, and almost anyone but the truth possessed Poet .••

WOPAJO WISDOM
 by: f. g. lopriato y lopez

Rush Limbaugh,
on the air one day,
Was clearly
heard to say;

"Like Samson, I may.
A thousand  liberals slay
On this fine day,"
"And so you may,
Quoth The Wopajo,
"And with the self -
Same weapon. ,.

His rhetoric deceives -
Every listener's ear;
Non issues he conceives
Exciting Mortal Fear-
Down where bigots live.
Yellow dogs -lies will weave

      YOU may think that the ways of the Greeks and Romans are dead, extinct.
That the divinities of Olympus do not have a single worshipper among today's "modern" men.
Need we remind thee of what The - Bard,(Shakespeare) said about a rose?
Try telling Manny Aragon that, the evil that men does not live after them, and that the good is
 not interred with their bones. Was The Bard a prophet, like Isiiah. in the Modern Bible, because
 he foretold Manny's downfall long  before the event?
       I say NaY! He foretold the downfall of everyone who follows the path that put Manny in the fix in
which he finds himself. today. He merely documented human nature, one branch of which is
personified in Caesar Other branches of human nature are personified in the other members
of the cast, and they all meet in the battle field that climaxes of the drama.
look around you, Olympian gods, by other names still manipulate human behavior.
